Festival of the Arts

Each Spring Pequot Lakes holds the Festival of the Arts. Our Festival is a community celebration that involves PreK-12th grade as well as community practicing artists. Our Festival is Dance, Theatre, Speech, Music and Visual Arts. Is is a huge community event that has been going on for 34 years. It was started by Dave Guenther when he was hired to build up the Pequot Lakes Art Program. Here are a few photos and video from our event:

The Festival is always held on a Thursday night in March or April, and runs from 5:00-8:00. We set it up Wednesday after school -Thursday after school, and clean it all up Friday. It is a big event that is over fast, but it brings everyone together at the same time in the same place, and that is fun to see! It is a celebration and not a competition, and includes everyone's art no matter what age. It's a blast, and the time of the year when the art students get to shine. I hope it goes on for many more years to come.
How about you, does your school hold an art show? How is your similar or different? What are key things an art show should have?
